Local Outreach

What is Outreach?

It is natural for people to reach out to others. We share recipes with one another, diet plans, vacationing advice, good music, etc. We love passing on good news that we've found. As Christians, we believe we have the best news of all - that Jesus Christ came to save us from sin and to give us true life for all eternity.

Outreach is to reach out in the name of Jesus Christ so that his name will be made known. Outreach seeks to serve with deeds to show Christ's love. Outreach is also to tell the truth of Jesus Christ so that others may believe in Jesus as the way, and the truth, and the life.

Our Guiding Principles

Jesus gave many commands, but two vitally important ones guide our work as we seek to reach out to those in our community.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself."      Matthew 22.37-39

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."    Matthew 28.18-20
Our Involvement

As an Evangelism Team, we have been looking into ways of developing relationships with our neighbors and learning to impact the community we live in. It is our desire that our connection with the Comstock Community grows stronger. Our current involvements and projects include.

Community Action Day - We started this in the fall of 2010 and repeated it in the spring and fall of 2011. We sent work crews out to rake leaves, cut branches, and doing general clean-up for those unable to do it themselves. We were blessed by this experience as were the people we worked for. Some referrals were received from the Comstock Community Center.

Summer Basketball Camp - We held a basketball camp again this year. It was for 8-12 year olds and it is an opportunity to learn basketball skills and about the love of God in Jesus. We are looking forward to trying this again.  Interested? Email us.

Comstock Food Pantry - Our church family, aided by our Deacons, also enjoys donating on a regular basis to the Comstock Food Pantry located at the Community Center. If you are in need of food assistance, click here to contact the Comstock Community Center. They work through Loaves and Fishes.
